Turbo Jam: 60 Day Challenge

Hello my lovelies! It has been such a long time since I felt like writing, working out, or eating healthy. I have been going out a lot, meeting new friends, and bridging gaps with old ones. After going to a club this past weekend it was clear that some new rules have to be set! I had such a great time dancing, didn't drink, and spent the whole night in good company, but something was missing. I woke up the next morning with a really terrible stomach ache, probably from the junk I've been eating and the lack of exercise I've been getting. Then I remembered I still had those Turbo Jam DVDs that I had tossed on my dresser and decided that today was the day, today was the day to start my new way of life, get back on track, and continue with my journey. Day 1 is complete with Learn & Burn.

The 60 Day Challenge

1. Turbo Jam 60 day workout program
2. Clean Eating
3. Blogging my experience
4. Trying out new recipes

Are you ready...?

Start Date: May 26th
End Date: July 24th

Breakfast of Champions

I have been kind of missing in action lately. I guess every blogger has their ups and downs, those moments they get so wrapped up in their personal life that they just don't feel like pouring anything out onto the web. That has been me lately, with this crazy break-up and two weeks of comfort food eating, which literally just ended yesterday, soometimes you have to binge on woman empowering shows, Instagram, and chocolate before you start getting yourself back together.

I started this new week with a delicious and filling breakfast. I made a side salad with cottage cheese, two pieces of ezeikel bread, hard boiled egg, avocado, and some iced tea. It was just what I needed to kick start my new 60 days of Turbo Jam. That's right I am going through the beachbody journey, is anyone else out there in the same boat? I'm kind of nervous to start this new chapter in my life. I think these next 60 days will really help me get mentally and physically stronger. I am also going to start writing five things I'm grateful for each and every day and five goals I want to accomplish. I really do think that if you put your mind to it anything is possible.

This is a new and scary chapter I finally deleted all my pictures of my ex, changed our Facebook status, and told him we could not be friends, for now. I think that when you are truly trying to get over somebody and move on you really can't constantly be involved in their life. When you love something sometimes it is just better to let it go. Now looking at my original goals I see that this was just not meant to be. I have new dreams and a new journey I'm working towards.

"This is a start of something new. "

The Fashionista in Me

Happy Easter!!! I personally don't celebrate Easter, but I love it, because it's a day I get to rest from working my second job, cook new dishes, and workout. Today's post is a little different than my usual posts. During the weekend I work at a store called Lord & Taylor for a brand called BCBG Max Azria. Their clothes are gorgeous and working there brought me great friends, a new style, and an eye for beautiful things.

Usually to learn about new trends we end up having fit sessions where we try on a bunch of the clothes so we can instruct people on the feel, the look, and the fit. Since losing weight I have been getting to the smaller sizes, which just gives me even more options and fun outfits to play around in. BCBG plays a huge part in my motivational journey towards a healthy and fit body. One of the reasons I started changing my bad habits was to be able to showcase new clothes and try fresh styles for the upcoming summer and fall season. This summer I can't wait to get into the Yacht Club trend and explore all trendy textures and designs.

Fitting into Summer Dresses

WHOOOOOO!!!! What an amazing day! First off it's Saturday and tomorrow, thanks to Easter, the mall will be closed, which means I get a day off. I have been so dead set on my bikini body operation that I haven't really taken some time to look at the progress and all that I have accomplished. I promised myself that this time around I will enjoy the journey more than the destination. I decided to try on my dresses from two summers ago and see if they still fit and guess what?!?!? Two of the dresses were too big!!!!

I kind of wanted to take a moment to say how awesome this whole journey has been. It has been such hard work, cooking, working out, and taking double shifts to pay off loans, but I did it! I have learned how to get over my fears of trying new things, new foods, and new kitchen techniques. I am so excited to head into May with a strong mind, healthy body, and solid goals! It's about being active, it's about enjoying your life, because everyday is a blessing and don't forget that.

This week also starts the uncharted waters week. Since I'm officially the healthiest I have ever been, this is where I start to self sabotage and ruin all the hard work I have put in. Going into uncharted waters is scary, but with the strong support system, my amazing friends, and all the tools I have gathered it will be a fun new time in my life.

Weekly Weigh-In

It's Friday once again and the weigh-in has commenced. This week only .8 lbs down, not as much as I thought it was going to be, but still happy the number is going down and not up. This week was my parent's anniversary, so we went out to eat, I also ended up with a really unhealthy cheat day. For some reason this week was extremely difficult to maintain, but I know the next week the number is DROPPING! I also introduced the Shape DVDs I ended up doing them Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each workout was 30-minutes long.

When There is No Chicken, I Grab the Tuna

Good morning and what a wonderful morning it is! Last night I cooked what seemed like the perfect dinner, still no carbs and full of protein and vegetables. I really wanted to clean out my fridge before I got started on a new week full of recipes and products I'd never used. Below is the easy to follow recipe, just be aware that I kind of made it up as I went a long, so feel free to do the same, add more veggies, change up the seasoning, etc.

Tuna Cooked in Tomato Purèe and Tossed with Zucchini, Onions, and Yellow Pepper

1 Yellow Pepper
1 Bag of Tuna in water
1/2 Purple Onion
3 tomatoes
1 Zucchini
Salt, Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, and Olive Oil (for seasoning)

1. Dice up the Pepper, Zucchini, and Onions
2. Drain the Tuna
3. Purée the tomatoes
4. Heat up a skillet, add a TBS of olive oil
5. Put the tuna on the skillet for 3 minutes
6. Add the tomato purée then heat for 3 minutes
7. Remove the tuna and use a fork to drain the excess liquid
8. Heat up the skillet, add 1 TBS of olive oil
9. Put the onions on the skillet and heat for 3 minutes
10. Put the zucchini and yellow peppers and heat for 3 minutes
11. Add the tuna and heat for 3 minutes

Bikini Body Shape Workout: Day 2

Good Morning from the sunny and gorgeous state of Jersey. I love when the sun comes out to play, because it means wonderful things are up ahead. This morning I decided to get the day started by working out to one of the Shape DVDs. The workout is a cool 30 minutes, it features a variety of movements to get your heart pumping and your body moving. This specific segment was Cardio Interval Workout. It was fast paced, all I needed were a set of dumbbells (I used 5 lbs) and a resistance band. I love working out in the morning, luckily I'm on vacation from my first job so I can afford to do so otherwise I usually workout late at night.

Last night I received my first ever workout shirt! I had ordered the Never Quiet shirt last week and was so excited to rip it open and get started on my workout. The shirt is super comfortable, light, and motivational in itself. I got the size small and it fit so great.

I also had to make dinner last night since I didn't really food prep for the week, since I knew I would be home for the majority of the week and preferred to eat something right after it was made, all warm, fresh, and delicious. I had four pieces of chicken drumsticks that had come out a bit chewy when I had made them in the oven, so I cut them off the bone, added zucchini, onions, peppers, and a tiny bit of chili pepper, and I had a delicious dinner for two days, I'll be eating the other half of it tonight after I get home from my second job.

It has been such a wonderful week so far. I am really working on staying positive, looking at each day as an opportunity for greatness.
